About the event

Join SOA-Charleston and Friends of Coastal South Carolina for the 15th annual Francis Marion National Forest Cleanup, Saturday, February 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We will be working at the Honey Hill Recreation Area (3533 French Santee Rd, off Hwy 45).  Volunteers should meet at the campgrounds at 9:00 a.m.

Each year over 300 volunteers come together to help remove over 12,000 pounds of trash from the Francis Marion National Forest.

Directions: From Highway 17 North in McClellanville, take Highway 45 west 8.3 miles to the recreation area on the left.

Weather-appropriate outerwear is recommended, along with long pants, long-sleeve shirts, and sturdy shoes.  We will have gloves, bags, and vests on-site for you!  Bring a "pick-up stick" if you have one.  Masks and social distancing will be required.  Bring snacks and drinks.  Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, lunch will NOT be served following cleanup this year.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at: sustainableoceanalliancechs@gmail.com (with “Palmetto Pride Volunteer” in the subject line) by Thursday, February 3rd, so that we can plan for supplies.

Hope to see you Saturday!
