About the event
Carolina Ocean Alliance presents Hidden Rivers, an exploration of the rivers and streams of the Southern Appalachian region, North America’s most biologically rich waters. The film follows the work of conservation biologists and explorers throughout the region - revealing both the beauty and vulnerability of this aquatic life - and how many people are finding ways to protect these ecosystems.
After the film, National Geographic Young Explorer Cash Daniels will discuss his lifelong passion for protecting freshwater ecosystems, how he creates opportunities for community-driven waterway stewardship, and the need for solutions that link upstream and downstream communities in shared management and restoration of our river and estuarine ecosystems.
Hidden Rivers is a production of Freshwaters Illustrated, a nonprofit dedicated to raising public awareness about the life, study, and conservation of freshwater ecosystems through immersive visual media and storytelling, and sharing imagery and stories with educators, conservation groups, and community audiences.
